Finally Up in the Air

Posted by Travel Blogger on Nov 18, 2009 in Airlines |

Finally, the airplane is lifting off the ground. Just a quick note to let you know that I am no longer sitting on the JFK tarmac with my thumb… well, you know.

In fact, you may be wondering just how I’ve gotten this blog post done. Once the flight attendants indicated it was okay to use portable electronic devices, I decided to simply do something productive with my thumbs (since they had been, uhm, oh yeah, forgot. Never mind ;) )

Anyway, like your children, once you get used to the feel of the keyboard on a smart phone, it can actually be comfortable to crank out some typing. I used to open my laptop on a flight and try to do some email catch up, etc. right there in my seat.

Have you felt the shrinking effect of the airline seating?

ARGH!!

Don’t get me wrong. I know that I have gained some weight since my carefree college days. And that’s fine. But have my legs grown so much that they are now crowding the seats in front of me? I suppose there is some extra padding on the back side of this equation, but geesh. Not enough to justify so little wiggle room.

So, with my trusty Storm in hand (phone functions off of course) I decided to start typing this blog post. Admittedly I am not as fast typing on the handheld as I am with my laptop keyboard, but it is way more comfortable to sit here without the computer squishing me even more.

About the only thing I wasn’t able to do during the flight was actually post this to the website admin pages. I also wasn’t able to find the groovy video about airline legroom (which hopefully will show up below!) I will get the hang of all this before too long.

So, do you have any interesting stories about being productive (or not so productive) while flying? Would love to hear from you.
