A Tuscon Photo Taking Extravaganza

Posted by Travel Blogger on Mar 25, 2010 in Sight Seeing |

One of my very best friends is a professor at the University of Arizona. He’s a master photographer, and while he rubs in my general inability to understand the basic mechanics of photography, I don’t let that get in my way of trying to get great photos when I see the chance.

As my travels for the month wind down I’ll find myself down in Tuscon. Jerry lives not far from the business travel hotels region of the city, and we have already decided to hook up for a good portion of the weekend.

And that’s so great because I’ve not gotten to hang out, take great photos under the tutelage of my master picture taking friend in years. You’d think living just a few hours from each other, we’d get together more often. Unfortunately my travel and his speaking, teaching engagements seem to make it nearly impossible for us to just hang out and enjoy our friendship.

This weekend we are heading over to the Center for Creative Photography. I know my photographic genius needs some work. Okay, a lot of work! However, when I get to visit great museums like this one with one of my best friends and a veritable genius of taking of still photos, I’m in photo heaven.

We’ve done this sort of thing a couple of times in the past, and every single outing has helped me better understand the art and science of taking pictures. I think that slowly but surely I am actually getting better at the hobby. So much so that I believe I’m at the point of beginning to look for a new camera.

But that brings a whole new process of learning, understanding the tools and most importantly, whether or not I’m ready to move up to something a bit more hearty, camera-wise.

If I’m able to get any good pics, I’ll try and share a few of them here over the next few weeks or so. Wish me luck!
